Canyon River Ranch Program
At Canyon River Ranch, we are dedicated to the success of our Youth. We specialize in the treatment of healing male youths, ages 12-17. We have nearly a decade of experience dealing with at-risk youth and behavioral clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Our multi-faceted program is designed to empower youth to set constructive goals, make positive choices, and to commit to healthy life changes. In order for us to create the most effective treatment plan, we will sit down with parents, referring agents or specialists, and discuss the right treatment for your at-risk youth. All students can choose from a variety of programs including individual therapy, residential therapy family therapy, and group therapy.
Empowering Youth Empowering Futures
Canyon River Ranch uses a highly individualized therapeutic intervention program designed to empower youth to change their lives for the better. Teaching youth how to change their thinking and behaviors will allow them to make smarter choices in the future. We guide them along the way to help them identify what is most important to them as individuals, and help them create attainable goals. Teaching the youth how to manage their emotions, avoid negative situations, and identify what they truly want out of life will help them on the path to a positive future. We want to teach our youth how they can focus on their goals to lead happy, successful, healthy lives.
Our therapeutic approach helps clients deal with the many issues they face and experience in their daily lives. It is a central tenet of Canyon River Ranch’s therapeutic model that our youths are whole people. Youth need to understand that their emotional, thinking, and behavioral problems must and can only be understood and treated in this context. We work closely with all parties involved to ensure families and providers understand the treatment program and the care their youth will receive while attending our Ogden youth facility.
Every youth is assigned to a licensed therapist who serves as the client’s dedicated therapist. Clients will get at least two hours of Individual therapy per week, and can receive family therapy if it will be helpful to the client. Individual therapy is a safe and neutral environment where the client will be able to express himself while gaining new insight as well as getting constructive feedback.
Family therapy is often crucial in the healing of a client in our program. Returning to family and their home is the final goal at Canyon River Ranch. We want the entire family to be a healthy and thriving community of support for our clients to return to. Family therapy will be provided by the client’s dedicated therapist and may include sessions with and/or without the client present.
In group therapy youth will learn new ideas, learn to listen and to speak, and learn how to give and receive feedback. Clients will learn leadership skills, and how to respond appropriately when confronted with stressful topics. Youth will learn how to deal with problems, and how to grow because of those challenges. In group, clients will learn that they are not alone and that other group members have the same sorts of difficulties, the same sorts of backgrounds, the same sorts of behaviors, and the same sorts of experiences, creating a unified and respectful environment.
